Endowed Student Awards

Nomination materials are due in the Division Office (449 Bevier Hall, MC-186) by November 18, 2016.  Award presentations will be made during seminar on Wednesday, January 25, 2017.  A description of the criteria for each award is summarized below and specific selection criteria are included in the attached documents. Please note that students may apply for a travel award and the Baker or Robinson award, but may only receive one award per year.

David H. Baker Nutrition Scholar Award:
This award is given to an outstanding graduate student majoring in Nutritional Sciences at UIUC. Excellence in research should be documented through peer-reviewed publications, abstracts, awards, and research grants, with emphasis placed on originality and creativity.  Contributions in teaching and service should also be documented. 
 
James L. Robinson Nutrition Impact Award:
This award is given annually to the graduate student who has made the greatest extracurricular impact on the Division of Nutritional Sciences. Impact may be through activities in the Nutritional Sciences Graduate Student Association or other activities to promote and enhance the Division and/or nutrition at the campus, state, and national level.
 
Toshiro Nishida Research Award:
The Toshiro Nishida Research Award fosters professional development of Nutritional Sciences graduate students by supporting travel to scientific conferences.  Priority will be given to students attending smaller conferences, where they could have significant interaction with leading researchers in their discipline, although other larger conferences will be considered. The student need not be presenting at the meeting. Any student currently enrolled in the Division of Nutritional Sciences may apply for this award, although preference will be given to students at relatively early stages of their graduate career.
 
Frank W. Kari Memorial Award:
The Frank Kari Memorial Award fosters professional development of Nutritional Sciences graduate students by supporting travel to scientific conferences.  Any student currently enrolled in the Division of Nutritional Sciences may apply for this award.
 
William Rose Endowed Award:
The William Rose Endowed Award fosters professional development of Nutritional Sciences graduate students by supporting travel to scientific conferences.  Any student currently enrolled in the Division of Nutritional Sciences may apply for this award.
